One life. One moment. One hundred words or fewer.

Everyone has a story worth telling. Sometimes it's a life-changing experience. Sometimes it's an unexpected encounter, a childhood memory, a lesson learned, or a moment that still makes us laugh.

Life Is Short invites readers to share a true story from their lives in 100 words or fewer.

It isn't easy to capture a meaningful experience in so few words. That's part of the fun. A good story doesn't always need a beginning, middle, and end. Sometimes one small moment says more than a thousand words.

Your story can be funny, touching, surprising, thoughtful, or simply memorable. You don't need to be a writer. You just need a story to tell.

Submission Guidelines

100 words maximum. Shorter is perfectly fine. Titles and author names don't count toward the limit.

True stories only. Tell us about something you personally experienced.
First person. Write in your own voice, using "I."

One moment or experience. Don't try to summarize your entire life. Focus on something that stayed with you.

Original submissions. Please submit your own work, not material copied from another source. Previously published stories must be identified.

Keep it suitable for a general audience. Avoid personal attacks, promotional content, and unnecessary identifying details about others.

Light editing. The Sequim Post may edit for clarity, grammar, and length while preserving your voice. Substantive changes will be discussed with you.

Publication permission. By submitting, you give The Sequim Post permission to publish your story on its website and in its newsletter. You retain ownership of your writing.

How to Submit

A hundred words. A moment in your life. We'd love to hear it.
